Early disappearance of
sea ice in Svalbard 19.05.2006
Satellite measurements show the
area covered by Arctic winter sea ice had reached an all-time low
for March and had completely disappeared by the beginning of May,
about one month earlier than usual. The director of the WCRP's project
on Climate and Cryosphere (CliC), Dr Victoria Lytle, reports her
observations and the impact the warmer climate has on arctic research
practices. |
